Hair Bow Tutorial

Hair Bow Tutorial

I love making hair bows for my daughter. They add an
extra pop to any outfit. These are quick & easy to make.

Materials needed:

scrap fabric
thread
stick pins
scissors
iron
hot glue gun
hair clips

Cut two pieces out of your fabric.
One should be 11 inches by 6 inches.
& the other 3 inches by 1.5 inches.

Fold the larger piece in half with right sides facing
in and sew together. Repeat this step on the
small piece.

Flip right-side out. Place the seam in the center as
shown & iron. Repeat this step on the small piece.

Fold in half with right sides together (seam should be
showing) & sew together. Repeat this step
on the small piece.

Turn right-side out & both pieces should look like the
picture above. This is the front of your bow. The seam you just
sewed should be centered at the back on both pieces. Iron.

Now its time to shape your bow. Place your fingers at
the back of the bow and pinch together folding the fabric
towards the front in the middle. Hot glue inside of the
fold you just made. You can also use a needle and thread
to do this and the next step if you prefer not to use hot glue.

Fold the top and bottom back and glue those
pieces down in the back. You should now have the
shape of your bow.

Slip your bow into the hole of the small piece of fabric.
The seam of the small piece should be on the back
of the bow.

Hot glue the hair clip to the back of the bow. You
can also use a needle & thread to sew it on for a
better hold but hot glue is much easier.

Your finished!!

You can also use this method to make smaller bows
or bigger bows. Just adjust the measurements of
your fabric cut outs to get the size you want.
